This lineup is another one of those lingering hints of what this neighborhood once was and should be - dense, thriving, walkable, human scaled, full of local businesses. The last business to occupy this corner storefront was, from its fading sign, a sort of free-wheeling barbecue restaurant. But the space has doubtless been inhabited by a variety of establishments in its 100+ years of existence.

The corner building remains an impressive sight today, bold and massive, still decorated with its original patterned slate tile roof.

A rear addition (possibly two) also echo the neighborhood's rich past.

(Oh, and of course, as expected, the Blairmont buildings are deteriorated, while the JVL Renaissance building is occupied and kept up. But that's old news by now.)
